Beyond May: Why your support matters more than ever

We are of course beyond May but there is still ample time for you to make a tax- deductible contribution to this year’s drive if you have not already done so.

So far over $65k has been donated. In Australia that would amount to average annual health spending  for about 6 people and likely avert about 1 or maybe 2 disability adjusted life years (DALYs).

In the DRC Congo or Ethiopia it equates to annual health spending for about 1000 people and the potential to prevent up to 1000 DALYs.

So as a TTD supporter you are funding a LOT of greatly needed and hugely appreciated health care for people who were not lucky enough to be born in Australia but who share our planet and our genome and many of our most basic desires and needs.

You are also helping to bolster the local health care services which has a very significant multiplier effect on regional economies. You are helping to diminish the imperative to migrate because of the lack of decent (or any) health services. You are helping children survive and preventing mothers from developing fistulas during childbirth that, as you are aware can lead to devastating consequences. You are helping people see clearly again so they can cook and care for their children.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
